*ORIGINAL SOLD. This painting was inspired by my recent trip to Italy. As the sun set in Rome, we were walking past an alley which lead to the square, Via Magnanapoli. Warm tones radiated from the buildings which stopped me in my tracks before I snapped a photo, and I knew immediately that I was going to paint it. An exaggeration of this moment is how I envisioned this painting. I wanted to evoke a feeling rather than render it realistically. I was also taken by the diverse and historical architecture portrayed in this image, which towers over the evening hustle and bustle.

As a Kansas City native myself, I enjoyed painting the familiar cityscape and architecture of Union station.
